This Sunday its time for a new season of womens division 1 basketball. We have interviewed the womens division 1 head coach Vernon Young and got his thoughts going in to the sesson.
What is your view of the preseason now that you are ready for the first game of the season?
-The preseason games served a great purpose for us. We got a chance to see how we play on both sides of the ball; where we thrive and where we need to have more focus. With both results from preseason games, I feel it served us greatly in a positive way as we approach the season.
Are you satisfied with the teams achievements during the preseason games?
-The preseason games we saw great success and great struggle that I feel have prepared us to start the season. I believe we achieved our goals as a team with good segments of basketball and learning about ourselves on how we can improve as a team.
What have happened with the roster since the last season?
-We are returning four really important players from the previous season but we essentially have a new roster filled with exciting talented young women we feel are ready to take the step up to compete in Basketettan Dam.
You have a lot of new young talent on the team, who are they and how do you see them adding to the team this season?
-Yes, we have a complete roster of young talented players. I couldn’t just name a few because I think it would do a disservice to how talented they all are but everyone brings something unique to the game. I believe as we develop throughout the season, they will compliment each others game nicely.
What is your gut feeling going in to this season and the ambitions Norrort have?
-This season we have high expectations to develop throughout the season with great progress, be competitive, and end the season as a top team in Basketettan Dam.
Saturday September 25th is your first game for the season when Luleå Basket Youth comes to Norrort, what do you know about Luleå?
-I’m not very familiar with Luleå Basket Youth as this is their first season in Basketettan but just like every Luleå team I expect them to be extremely competitive.
Any final words for the Norrort fans before the game on Sunday?
-We look forward to seeing all the fans come out to support us as we start the new season! See everyone in Fribergahallen Sunday!
Go Norrort Go!
